What This Class Does For You
THE FOUNDATIONS THAT
ACTUALLY SHOW ON CAMERA
This is not a theatre class. This is not improv. This is on-camera acting training for film and television — the specific skills that make you watchable, castable, and bookable. All work is filmed and reviewed on a large HD screen. You see yourself. You improve. Week by week.
The foundation of everything. How to truly listen to your scene partner and be fully present in the moment — not in your head, not performing. The Alza Method: "Keeping It Real On Camera."
You'll work on real scenes — not exercises. Objectives, actions, beats, and choices that stay alive. Understanding what your character wants, and how to pursue it truthfully on camera.
Eyelines, frame awareness, and performance that reads in close-up, medium, and wide shots. Understanding line of movement for the camera — skills that only come from being on camera regularly.
An introduction to Walter Alza's proprietary technique — developed through 30 years of professional film and TV work, drawing from Stanislavsky, Meisner, and Chekhov. This is what separates Alza from every other acting school in Toronto.
The beginnings of building a character — truthfulness, specificity, and the inner life that makes a performance something the camera cannot look away from. Introduced at the pace of a beginner. Planted for a lifetime.
How to take direction. How to adjust. How to build confidence through repetition and real feedback. Every actor who walks out of this class is more comfortable on camera than every actor who never took it.
Week by Week
WHAT TO EXPECT
IN THE ROOM
Every Saturday session is hands-on, on your feet, and on camera. No lectures. No sitting. You work. You get filmed. You watch it back. You improve. This is how actors actually develop.
Get On Camera Immediately
From week one, you are on camera. No warm-up period of just watching. You are introduced to the lens, the frame, and what it feels like to perform in front of a professional multi-camera setup.
Work on Real Scenes
You're assigned scenes — real film and TV material. You work with a partner. You rehearse. You perform. You get feedback. You do it again, better. Week by week, session by session.
Watch Yourself Back
After each scene, your performance is played back on a large HD screen. You see what the camera sees. This is how you understand what to change — and what's already working.
Take Risks
The studio culture at Alza is zero ego, high standard, and fully supportive. You are expected — and encouraged — to take risks. Be prepared to be pushed. Be prepared to surprise yourself.

WALTER ALZA
Walter Alza is a multiple award-winning actor, director, producer, and coach with over 30 years of experience in film and television. He is not someone who studied acting and then started teaching. He is someone who lived a full professional career on screen — and built Alza Acting Studio to pass that knowledge on.
Why He Teaches The Intro Class
Walter has said it himself: the beginning is where the craft is set — or broken. The habits a beginner develops in their first class are the habits they carry for years. That's why the Intro class at Alza is not handed off. The Walter Alza team personally ensures every new actor starts with the right foundation.
His credits include Get Rich or Die Tryin' (with 50 Cent, directed by Jim Sheridan), Special Correspondents (Netflix, with Eric Bana and Ricky Gervais), Metropia (90-episode Canadian series), and 40+ additional productions. He is also the first Latin actor to headline a series in Canada.
What Students Say
THEY STARTED
EXACTLY WHERE YOU ARE.
After just a few months of training with the talented Alza team, I landed a main role in a TV series! The Alza method works — trust it!
I highly recommend this studio! Along with acting skills, it instills discipline, work ethic, and character — preparing you for auditions and real sets in a positive, family-like atmosphere.
I used to be so awkward on camera. Thanks to Walter and the Alza team, I grew my TikTok following to over 3 million! I'm incredibly grateful for their support and the Alza Method.
I owe my current success to Alza Acting Studio. They prepare you for auditions and work on a real set. The class culture is positive and high energy. A real family-like vibe — an environment where true improvement is harnessed.
I strongly recommend training in class and in privates at the Alza Acting Studio. After my first session of classes and privates with Walter Alza, I landed a lead role in a feature film, a principal role in a television series, and signed with one of the leading agencies in Toronto!
Walter Alza has been an inspiration to many of my clients. He gives them confidence, perspective and a new approach to auditioning which ultimately helps them win the role.
Where Alza Alumni Have Worked
THEY STARTED IN
THE INTRO CLASS.
THIS IS WHERE THEY WENT.
Many of Alza's most successful alumni walked into the Intro class with zero experience. They stayed. They trained. They booked. These are the productions they ended up in.
Beginner Acting Classes for Film & TV in Toronto
If you're searching for beginner acting classes in Toronto, the most important decision you'll make isn't which class — it's which foundation. The habits and techniques you develop in your very first acting class will shape everything that follows. Start wrong and you spend years unlearning. Start right and every class you take after builds on something real.
The Intro to On-Camera Acting class at Alza Acting Studio is built specifically for this moment — your first real contact with professional film and TV acting training in Toronto. Not theatre. Not improv. On-camera, for film and television, in a professional studio environment.
No Experience? That's The Point.
The Intro class is designed for complete beginners. You don't need to know anything. You don't need to have done anything. What you need is the willingness to show up, get on camera, and do the work. Walter Alza and his team will handle the rest.

How to Start Acting in Toronto — The Right Way
Every working actor in Toronto started somewhere. The difference between those who built careers and those who didn't is usually not talent. It's training. Consistent, professional, on-camera training from people who have actually done what you want to do.
What Makes Alza Different From Other Acting Schools
There are acting schools in Toronto that teach theatre basics and call it film acting. There are studios where beginners are put in large groups with minimal individual attention. And then there is Alza Acting Studio — where every beginner is filmed from day one, reviewed on HD screen, and given the same professional standard the industry expects.
From Beginner to Working Actor — The Alza Path
The Intro class is the entry point. After completing it, actors may be invited into the Next Level class, then the Intermediate class, then the Advanced class. Many Alza alumni have followed this path from zero experience to booked roles, agent representation, and award-winning performances.
Acting Classes in the GTA — Toronto, Mississauga & Beyond
Alza Acting Studio trains actors from across the Greater Toronto Area — Mississauga, Scarborough, North York, Etobicoke, Markham, Vaughan, and Brampton — as well as students from outside Ontario who travel to Toronto specifically for on-camera film and TV training. The Bloor-Yonge subway station is directly across the street.
