Why This Class Exists
THIS CLASS IS
A TURNING POINT
"In the Craft Class, you stop working to impress. You stop forcing results. You begin to trust your process."
This is where actors learn freedom — not tricks, not performance habits, not shortcuts. Freedom through understanding the work at a deep, structural level. Level One is devoted entirely to craft. Actors who skip this step often hit a ceiling later. Actors who do this work early separate themselves for life.
This is not an on-camera class. This is pure craft.
The Foundation
WHAT THE
CRAFT CLASS
IS BUILT ON
Rooted in the work of Michael Chekhov, biomechanics teaches the actor to use the body as a complete instrument. Every gesture, every weight shift, every breath — purposeful. You stop doing things. You start being them.
Drawn from Stanislavsky's system, sense memory exercises train you to access real emotional truth on command. Not manufactured. Not pushed. Real. The kind of truth that the camera — and audiences — can never resist.
Walter Alza takes the classical tools and evolves them. Expanded, road-tested, and adapted for film and television. This is 30 years of set experience distilled into a methodology that produces working, bookable actors.
The Work
WHAT YOU WILL
BUILD
IN THIS CLASS
Walter Alza gives you an empty canvas — and the tools to paint on it for decades to come. This class is not about showing results. It's about building a foundation strong enough to hold them.
-
Character Development
Discover emotions and layers organically — in your character and in your relationship with your scene partner. Nothing forced. Everything earned.
-
Scene Breakdown
Learn to read the given circumstances with precision. What they really mean. What they demand from you. How to extract the truth from every line.
-
Presence & Listening
How to listen to your partner and be fully present in the moment — The Alza Method: "Keeping It Real On Camera."
-
Voice, Body & Soul
Develop your full instrument. Not just the words. The body that carries them, the voice that colours them, the inner life that makes them undeniable.
-
Fully Realized Characters
Stop playing a character. Start being one. Specific, grounded, and camera-ready. Built from the inside out.

Standing on the Shoulders of Giants
THE MASTERS
BEHIND THE METHOD
The Craft Class draws from the greatest acting teachers in history — then evolves their work through Walter Alza's own 30-year methodology. This is not theory. This is living technique.
The father of modern acting. His system — emotional memory, objectives, given circumstances — forms the bedrock of every serious approach to the craft. Alza traces every exercise back to Stanislavsky's core question: what do you want?
Stanislavsky's most gifted student. Chekhov unlocked the body as the actor's most powerful tool — through psychological gesture, imagination, and atmosphere. Biomechanics, as taught in this class, comes directly from his legacy.
The architect of Method Acting as practised by De Niro, Pacino, and Streep. Strasberg's sense memory exercises trained actors to summon real sensory experience — not simulate it. The same discipline lives in every Alza Craft session.
How It Works In The Room
THE ALZA
METHOD
IN PRACTICE
The Empty Canvas
Every session begins with clearing the noise. No habits. No patterns. No performing. Walter strips everything back so the real work can begin.
Biomechanics & Sense Work
Structured exercises from Chekhov and Stanislavsky — hands-on, physical, and immediate. Actors learn by doing, not by discussing.
Scene Work & Redirection
Walter works one-on-one with each actor through their scenes. With a single redirect, you find yourself truly living in the moment much deeper — going beyond performance.
Keeping It Real On Camera
The Alza Method culminates in one question: is this real? Not performed. Not managed. Real. The kind of truth that survives a close-up.
"The Craft Class encourages you to be seen, heard, and loved. With a redirect from Walter Alza you find yourself truly living in the moment much deeper, which allows you to go beyond performance. A worthwhile investment of my time."Linda PagnottaAlza Acting Studio · Craft Class Graduate
"Walter's craft class is great. He shows you the nuances of the craft that you need to develop in order to become a higher calibre actor. He makes you want to be a better person and a better actor. This class pushes you. But you will be better for it."TerryAlza Acting Studio · Craft Class Graduate
