On-Camera Acting Class
Developed by an Industry Insider
The Beginners Intro Acting Class is designed for students who have little to no formal acting training. Actors are guided through an introduction to the craft, as well as an overview of acting on camera. Focusing primarily on scene study, these classes reveal a specific method of acting for the camera tailored by the founder of Alza Acting Studio — award-winning actor and filmmaker Walter Alza. This class focuses not only on scene study and character development, but also on the craft by guiding you to explore yourself more.
Our foundation draws from the legendary techniques that shaped the careers of Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, and Meryl Streep. We bridge the gap between classic craft and modern on-camera performance.
Your journey begins with a focused 4-week intensive. After completing Intro, students may be invited to continue in our Next Level Acting class. Progression depends on readiness and the studio's assessment. Completing Intro does not automatically qualify a student for Intermediate or Advanced.

To Know Before You Start
Do I need acting experience to join the Intro class?
No experience is required. Intro to On-Camera Acting is designed for beginners and people new to acting for film and television. Our coaches guide you through the fundamentals in a supportive, zero-attitude environment.
Where is the studio located? Is it accessible by transit?
Alza Acting Studio is located at 7 Hayden Street, Suite 207S, Toronto, near Yonge and Bloor. The studio is a short walk from Bloor-Yonge TTC subway station.
How much does Intro to On-Camera Acting cost?
The four-week Intro session costs $329 CAD plus HST. A separate annual administration fee of $39 applies. See the registration calendar for current dates and availability.

Will I perform on camera in the first class?
Yes. You work on camera from day one. In-studio training uses professional camera equipment and screen playback to help you understand how your performance reads on camera. Guided practice and feedback help you develop your technique over time.
What happens after I complete the four-week Intro course?
