The Beginners Intro Acting Class is designed for students who have little to no formal acting training. Actors are guided through an introduction to the craft, as well as an overview of acting on camera. Focusing primarily on scene study, these classes reveal a specific method of acting for the camera tailored by the founder of Alza Acting Studio — award-winning actor and filmmaker Walter Alza. This class focuses not only on scene study and character development, but also on the craft by guiding you to explore yourself more.

Do I need acting experience to join the Intro class? +
No experience is required. The Intro to On-Camera Acting class is designed specifically for complete beginners and people completely new to working in front of a lens. We guide you step-by-step through the fundamentals in a highly supportive, zero-attitude room.
Where is the studio located? Is it easy to get to via transit? +
Yes, we are incredibly easy to get to! Alza Acting Studio is located right in the heart of downtown Toronto at 7 Hayden Street, Suite 207S. The Bloor-Yonge TTC subway station is directly across the street (less than a 1-minute walk), making it an effortless commute from anywhere across the GTA, Mississauga, Brampton, or Scarborough. Street and Green P parking are also available nearby.
What does the class cost, and how does it compare to traditional drama schools? +
The class costs $299 + HST for a full 4-week intensive session. Traditional theater schools and university programs often force you to spend up to $30,000 or $40,000 in tuition and commit 40+ hours a week studying abstract stage theory. At Alza, we focus entirely on immersive, practical screen craft. Because you learn by doing on an active set, you develop your on-camera reflexes way faster—saving you years of time and tens of thousands of dollars so you can actually get out into the industry and book jobs.

Will I actually get to perform on camera in the very first class? +
Yes. You are on camera from day one. We don't believe in long lectures or spending weeks just sitting and watching others. All your performance sessions are captured on a professional multi-camera HD setup and played back immediately on a large screen so you can analyze your progress in real-time.
What happens after I complete the 4-week Intro course? +
After successfully completing the Intro course, you will have established a rock-solid operational blueprint. From there, actors are eligible to be invited into our Next Level Acting class or advanced scene study workshops to continue refining their craft, technical camera navigation, and industry integration track.
